National Library Week Stimulus Package

During National Library Week ONLY – April 13-18th – the Woodstock Public Library and the Rural Woodstock Public Library District is offering their very own Stimulus Package: HALF PRICE on WOODSTOCK LIBRARY OVERDUE FINES AND LOST OR DAMAGED CHARGES, including Collection Agency Fees.  We want our customers back, so if you have been staying away because of a large fines on your card, come back and clear them between April 13-18th. Half price offer can not be used for overdue fines or book charges from OTHER libraries, even if the item was checked out in Woodstock.

Cardholders who cards have expired are encouraged to bring identification with their correct address so that they can have their card updated at the same time.

Books are available at the front desk around the first of the month. Discussion questions will be posted on the 15th of each month.

Food For Fines

On Saturday, February 14th the library will waive overdue fines in exchange for canned food donations. Maximum clearance is $5.00 in fines per library card. Amnesty does not apply to lost or damaged charges.

Blood Drive

Heartland Blood Centers will be holding a Blood Drive in their Mobile Coach in the Library Parking lot. Donated blood will benefit area hospitals. All donors must show a photo id prior to donating. At 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009, join all of McHenry County in a public reading of the Gettysburg Address. People will be reciting the address together at public libraries, schools, businesses, and any place they might happen to be at that time.

Winter Reading Club Begins

McHenry County Reads Lincoln: “Lincoln Logs” Winter Reading Club
Celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s 200th Birthday by joining the Winter Reading Club. Readers and listeners of all ages can participate. Your goal is to read 200 minutes and keep track on your personal “Lincoln Log.” Small listeners can join and keep track too. Anyone completing that goal receives a prize and is entered into the grand prize drawing.
Day/Date: Sunday, February 1 to Saturday, February 28.
Ages: 2 and up (including adults)

MiniLinks Golf Outing in the Library

MiniLinks Golf Outing
Come join us and be a part of the Friends fundraiser to support your Library. An 18-hole miniature golf course will be created inside the library—in the stacks, through the reference room, up the elevator, around the magazines and down the back stairs. The holes will be decorated using themes that are linked to our sponsors There will be a Leader board, 19th hole, Wii practice green, and an opportunity to challenge local golf pros. Participants can play for fun 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.; Tournament & Pro Challenge 3:00-5:00 p.m.
