Explorers Book Club
Join Erin (Mrs. Z) for an exciting exploration into a children’s chapter book. Children in grades 4 and 5 are invited to read the selection on their own and then participate in a group discussion at the library. A hands-on exploration based on the book will follow. The books will be available to pick up at the check-out desk.
Days: The second Monday of each month
Dates: January 11; February 8; March 8; April 12; May 10
Time: 3:00-4:00 p.m.
Ages: Grades 4-5
Registration not required.

Living Sustainably in Our Community
With Earth Day right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to learn how to improve our community by living more sustainably. Leslie Krebs, from the McHenry County Conservation District (MCCD), will teach us how we can better care for the magnificent life-support system we all share— our Earth.

Bull Valley Garden Club Presents an Afternoon with Owls
Linda Breuer from Barnswallow will introduce owls that she has rehabilitated. Then dissect real owl pellets to identify what an owl had for dinner! Children are encouraged to bring an adult with them.
Registration is limited and will begin Thursday, April 1.

Technology Petting Zoo
Come out and try some of our favorite technology resources. Library staff will be on-hand to demonstrate our catalog, databases, and online resources. See how easy it is to download an audio book, reserve the latest bestseller on our website, or register for a library program online. Participants will be issued an exhibit map to be stamped at each tech table visited. Completed maps will be entered to win prizes!

Quilter’s Discussion Forum

Searching for your Family: Getting Started with Genealogy

Shelf Reading is checking each book on the shelf to make sure it is in the correct Dewey Decimal order. An accuity for numbers is helpful, but not required. Training by library staff will be offered at the beginning of each session. 16 years old and older are welcome to participate.
